Very nice post Jerod, such a lovely yet visceral description of what you went through in the making of this image. I think the key to it all though is to listen to what is deep inside and go with that, even if it means breaking the so-called rules of photography. I think, that if we pause to consider a bit longer before pressing the shutter button, we often reach that resolution of conflict quicker than if we start making photographs along those perceived set of rules. That is something I certainly am still working on.

My daughter got me your book for Christmas and it’s one of the better gifts I got this year. I’m nearly through it and will give it a re-read for sure. I’m hoping to put some of your lessons to work in my own photography. I still need work on the button pushing part of it too, but, getting there…

mr foster….i’ve spent the last 3 days absorbing this superb effort of first class knowledge in a suggestive lesson form….nicely done……now i’ll get my notepad out in order to highlight all the gems of “hard-knocks proven methodology” you so graciously shared with us for instant reference when needed……i ordered mine off amazon and had it in hand on the 3rd day without requesting any expedited shipping…thank you for your effort…..this is a 1st class piece of schooling, easily read and without any fluff or filler……excellant job, thank you
