No prescription cialis canadian pharmacy
You can almost consider this the second season of Field Lighting, especially since I haven’t posted one since November of last year! Think of this as a reemergence, then, and since I don’t have no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy to keep some larger portrait projects under wraps anymore, you’ll hopefully see more of these in the near future!
The last Field Lighting post focused on photographing a local artist, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy what better way to reintroduce the series than with another. James Watkins is a world-class ceramicist (you may have dug up a couple posts about him from earlier here and here), and I’ve been no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy fortunate to photograph and visit with him several times over my career. The most recent shoot took place last July, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy it produced some of my favorite portraits in my portfolio. I believe one of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy reasons for this is because I sat down and visited with him for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy close to three hours a week earlier and interviewed him for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the story I wrote to accompany the images. During this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy time, I was able to learn more about Mr. Watkins than no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I usually do in conversation with many folks I’m photographing. Conversation is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy key for creating storytelling images, and when the opportunity comes along to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy have more one-on-one time with your subject, take advantage of it! It just so happened that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I pitched the story about Mr. Watkins, and the magazine wanted me to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy write and shoot it. I think it worked out for everyone involved!
We’ll come back to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the image above later. To show this shoot chronologically, we’ll start in Mr. Watkin’s living room. This is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy where we spent our time talking weeks before, and during that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy visit, I began to see how representative this room was of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy artist. I saw him sitting in the exact same location that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy you see him in the photograph (I was sitting directly across from him), loved the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy colors, the design, the art, and the large window to his right.
When I came back for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the shoot, I knew we would start in the living room. The large, north-facing window poured attractive light in between the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy blinds, but to my dismay, it wasn’t quite as shaping as I wanted. For consistency purposes, though, I sought to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy replicate the same light. I placed an ever-trusty Elinchrom Rotalux 39″ softbox buy strattera online no prescription off to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy camera left, and feathered it past his face, making sure Mr. Watkins’s left side fell into a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy contrasty dark, yet still maintain a bit of detail. The height of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy light was just above his head (the center of the light, that is), and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the shadows fell attractively downward, imitating the light from the large window. Pointing the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy light down and feathering it past his face just a small bit helps create a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy natural vignette, as you can see in the shadows creeping in at the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy top and bottom left of the frame. We like that area, but it’s not what we’re here for. It’s there to complement the subject, help say something about him–not necessarily to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy override his identity. The exposure was made in consideration for the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy lamps framing the artist, balancing just enough so the wall (not the inside of the lampshade) would not overexpose.
I never leave a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy shoot without making a headshot, and on our walk through his backyard to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy his studio, I placed him in front of a dark green tree. The same 39″ Rotalux was placed high and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy to camera right. This time, the light was not as feathered, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy you can see a bit of the artificial light filling in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy shadow side of his face. The sky was fairly cloudy at this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy moment, so the more blue-toned shadow came as a result. The power from no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the Elinchrom was relatively low in order to avoid overpowering the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy ambient light much. The low power also allowed me to shoot with a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy very open aperture (f/3.2) at 200mm, a tight focal length for filling the frame up comfortably.

The first image in this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy post, as well as the second image in the diptych, were made inside Mr. Watkins’s studio. I’ve photographed him throwing clay several times in a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy teaching environment, but this time, the one-on-one experience was much more accommodating of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy camera. The studio, adorned with wooden shelves holding supplies, several tables with pieces waiting to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy be fired, and photographs of his travels lining the walls, was very much where no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy his art came alive.
The ceiling in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy studio was very high, and it reminded me of what we know of Rembrandt’s studio, where no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy light poured in through cheese cloths placed in windows high above the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy floor. When Mr. Watkins sat down at the wheel, clay plastered towel over his pants, all I could think of was replicating this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy same light. Instead of using the Quadra+Rotalux combination, I opted to use a much lower-powered Canon 580EX+Pocket Wizard through a 30″ shoot-through umbrella. I placed it no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy high and to camera left. Balanced with the room’s ambient light values, the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy idea for this shot was not to create what looked like an no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy obviously lit shot, but rather one that imitated the light Rembrandt once used to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy light his portraits: directionally-diffused and at a high angle. After getting what no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I felt was the appropriate balance between ambient and artificial, I was free to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy move around the artist and the wheel as if that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy was the general light source for the room. The first image in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy post actually ran as the opening spread to the story, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy while I like it, I’m actually a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy much bigger fan of the vertical shot you see in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy diptych. Compositionally, those lines and the very high, wide angle shows an no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy artist among his environment in a way that speaks to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy me more so than the top image. Design-wise, the top one made the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy cut, though!
The last set of images I made of Mr. Watkins were simple yet telling environmental portraits with his soon-to-be-fired work. Like I mentioned earlier, he had no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy several pieces setting on a nearby table in the studio, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I simply used them as foreground content to frame him up against the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy wall of images in the background. The lighting is much the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy same as the others shot in the studio (so, I won’t leave you no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy with another diagram; you can reverse-engineer this one by looking at the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy reflection in his glasses and by following the direction of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy shadows). Here’s a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy tip, though: when shooting in the same environment as other setups, it’s wise to try to recreate the same light.
The key to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy this shot was composition. The framing achieved with the pots work, but it’s actually the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy lines of frames on either side of the wall that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy further lead the viewer’s eyes to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Mr. Watkins. All of the framing mechanisms seem to be saying, “Look at this man!”
It was certainly a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy pleasure getting to photograph and visit with James Watkins more, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I’m glad to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy see the story turned out so well in the magazine. Speaking of which, you no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy probably noticed that in terms of composition and the Rule of Thirds, Mr. Watkins is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy placed in the right of the horizontal frames. I noticed this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy more when editing the images after the shoot, and one can no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy always say: shoot for design. An art director or designer is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy always looking for images that both tell story and work within their vision as well. The choice to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy place Mr. Watkins in the right of the frames just seemed to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy be the natural fit for each location. However, I did have no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy to go back through and make sure there were plenty of images with varying composition, ha!
Thanks for sticking with the Field Lighting series, and look forward to more additions coming soon! Thanks again to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy James Watkins, and if you ever get a chance to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy visit his studio or spend time with his art, you’re better for it!

Thank goodness it’s Spring! Things are starting to green up where I’m at, and I’m sure it’s the same way for most of you in the northern hemisphere (sorry southern hemisphere, give it a few months). As the great orator, Garrison Keillor (no no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy matter whether you like him or his politics, this guy can no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy tell a story), would agree, Spring brings life to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy not only the flowers along our sidewalks and our crops in fields, it no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy also serves as a booster shot for those who’ve grown socially dusty over the long winter months. Here’s to a great month and a great season!

What’s the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy start of the season that reinvigorates life without a symbolic visual representation? In all actuality, this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy shot really does embody all that the new season comes roaring in with in tow. The storm has no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy passed over, the wonderfully warm evening light appears, and a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy rainbow spreads across the sky and in striking contrast to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the turbulence that once existed in its spot. Whew! I for one am glad Winter’s over!
Here’s to a happy new season!
Speaking of reinvigorates, it’s high time this blogger cranked back up a new season of Field Lighting posts! More to come…

Call me crazy, but as a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy photographer, environmental phenomena intrigue me. Take yesterday for example: we knew we were getting wind. Not just a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy breeze, but the kind of wind that puts the huffing and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy puffing big bad wolf and all his cronies to shame. West Texas is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy known for several things, two being the immensely flat landscape and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the springtime winds. All along the farmland in this area, it’s common to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy see the periodic row of evergreen cedar and pine trees planted as wind blocks for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy houses built in the middle of acres and acres of nothing but plowed cotton fields. The wind is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy a big deal, literally.
Even more unique to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy this area is what rides on the winds from time to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy time during this time of the year. Sandstorms (some folks refer to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy them as dust storms out here, no one has ever settled which is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy which as far as I’m concerned) occur three to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy four times annually in this part of Texas. What most transplant West Texans (mostly college students and professors at Texas Tech University) refer to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy as adverse weather, often in tones of self-deprecation, is in truth a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy fairly amazing environmental phenomenon that is essentially part of life on the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Llano Estacado. Sandstorms are certainly representative of adverse and oppressive weather conditions, signaling drought and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy loss of valuable soils to inclimate wind. For the ranchers fighting back wildfires that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy jump fences and entire pastures, and for the farmer needing to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy plant seed or irrigate dry fields, the wind associated with sandstorms, often gusting 50-plus miles per hour, threaten necessary production.
For photographers, on the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy other hand, this type of infrequent occurrence is worth noting visually. Yes, I know, sand and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy cameras don’t mix, especially when no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the sand is flying in the air at speeds you can’t match on foot. However, taking a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy little risk may offer an opportunity to tell a little piece of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy contextual story. Shoot from inside a vehicle or building, wrap the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy camera and lens up with a trash bag or jacket, use a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy prime lens versus a zoom (which serve as dust magnets), do whatever you can to keep your gear clean, if that’s the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy goal, in order to create environmentally-telling images unique to your no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy region (in this case, West Texas and the Southern High Plains).
The image above was made in late January just outside Floydada, Texas. Living in this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy area for nearly a decade, I’d seen my fair share of sandstorms and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy swallowed enough dust in the process. However, I was struck by the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy large flock of Sandhill Cranes vigorously fighting the high winds in this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy empty sorghum field. A sizable group of them was rational and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy remained on the ground, but the rest were continuously attempting to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy gain purposeful flight, only to be slung around by the west wind. If my eyes were full of grit, I can no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy only imagine how they were handling the debris. I pulled off on a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy county road running next to the field, killed the engine, rolled down the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy passenger window, grabbed a 400mm, and filled the frame up with the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy multitude of elegantly struggling birds. The colors muted by the diffused light, the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy image speaks to the oppressiveness of the howling wind and flying sand.
No matter where no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy you live in the world, pay attention to the environmental conditions and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy phenomena unique to your region. This might be the occasional beautiful break in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy normal overcast sky, or the infrequent sandstorm in a region where no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy it’s clear and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy sunny 280 days out of the year. Whatever it is, note it no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy on the calendar, and give it due diligence with your camera. It speaks of your no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy surroundings, and if incorporated with indigenous subject matter, it more fully completes the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy visual description of a PLACE. Places are where we exist. Why not try to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy get to know them better?

One of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy more pristine water sources in Texas resides just a short hike up a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy canyon near Dolan Falls on the Devil’s River. Dolan Creek feeds the Devil’s, much in part from no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy natural seepage from the canyon walls that line its path through acres of wilderness and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy sparse ranch land. The creek is mostly composed of a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy hard bedrock bottom, and when the water resides from flood level, small tinaja-like pools, like the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy one above.
On the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy fringe of the Chihuahuan Desert and the Edwards Plateau, the juncture of both Dolan Creek and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the Devil’s River serves as a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy miniature oasis for the surrounding vegetation and fauna. Since it is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy controlled by the good folks at the Nature Conservancy, it’s also in good hands. It’s hard not to be outside during a visit to this area! These kinds of places are no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy becoming fewer and fewer, so if you ever get a chance to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy visit Dolan Creek or similar areas, enjoy your experience fully!

The past month has no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy seen me shooting more landscape and natural history pieces for clients than no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy portraits, and it’s been no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy a healthy shift for a bit. Sometimes, these breaks or changes in assignments can no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy be just what you need to create more effectively later! On a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy more recent feature shoot with a local artisan, I felt more creative, seeing shots that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I otherwise would have missed a couple months ago…
Or at least that’s how I felt. I don’t think it’s any secret that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy if you feel your creative juices have momentarily stalled, taking a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy break from the usual can reinvigorate your storytelling vision when no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy engaging the usual at a later time or date. Every now and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy then, it’s nice to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy take that breather, concentrate on something else, then make a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy more focused, fresh return.
I’ve certainly enjoyed this time, and it’s allowed me to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy return to where I cut my photographic teeth: rural Texas. The lesser populated areas of West Texas, specifically, have no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy a unique character that largely influences its more urban areas. Hard work, respect, solidarity, hard work, space, stability, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy connectedness. Did I mention hard work? When one mentions rural West Texas, one must also recognize how large an no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy area it is, and yet how small those towns are that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy dot its level plain. I grew up in a small town just west of Fort Worth, Texas, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy I can appreciate and have come to enjoy knowing people in the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy smaller populaces near Lubbock. It truly is a small world west of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Big Empty, especially when you might talk to a farmer shopping for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy groceries at a larger city’s supermarket one day, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy then see him moving implements on his property 60 miles away the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy next.
This has become the theme for much of the shooting I’ve been no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy doing recently for one designer, and the impetus behind shots like the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy one above. West Texas is widely recognized for its huge sky and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy powerful sunsets and sunrises. If you talk to any photographer in this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy area, they each have their own favorite sunset shot (mine’s on film that’s never been scanned, ha, pristine, huh?). Every one of them, however, will agree that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy one sunset here is unlike the other in every way. If you no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy happen to be traveling the backroads of rural West Texas, you’re privy to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy an even more unadulterated view of the large expanse above the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy horizon, and it really puts things in perspective for you. This particular shot shows indeed how small yet large this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy area of the state seems to many people, the large impressionistic blaze above the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy small, one-windmill town of McAdoo (alright, there’s more than one windmill).
You can’t tell me the people that live here don’t look at the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy sky each morning and night and have a deep appreciation for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy where they live! I have no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy lived here long enough now that even being in the mountains for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy weeks on end sometimes has me jonesing for a little flatland. You start to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy enjoy seeing the sky. It also makes you more cognizant of those characteristics of other places (and other peoples for that matter) that make the “other” genuinely unique. It’s all a matter of perspective!

It’s also home to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy one of the more characteristic Texas state parks. The last time I visited Caprock Canyons State Park, I arrived on a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy beautiful, open-sky afternoon, only to find myself car-camping that night in one of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy most voluminous winter thunderstorms I’ve experienced since living in this part of the state.
Then it got cold. Very cold.
The next morning, I woke up to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy find everything covered in ice. Although snow is not all that no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy frequent here, ice is an ever present and often visual element to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the season. That with the low fog cover and the contrast between evergreen cedar trees and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the time-telling red dirt, you might find it worth your while taking images in adverse weather.
I’m headed back out to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Caprock Canyons early in the morning for a day shoot, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy thought about the weather predictions made for the next couple days. It’s supposed to be nice…we’ll see!
More to come.

Actually, it really doesn’t take much for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy a muley like this to hide. I just happened to spook it no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy while doing some wind turbine shooting yesterday for a design house in Lubbock. To be no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy completely honest, it really spooked me, seeing as how it jumped up about ten feet from no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy my path and bounded off to a small lay of water nearby.
This young buck really isn’t worth showing in the grand scheme of wildlife photography (size-wise), but I like how the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy curiosity at his age allows him to stick around just a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy little bit, inquisitive on what I’m going to do next. Although I wasn’t out for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy wildlife yesterday, I still made it back to the FJammer (my wife likes to call my ride such) to grab a 7D and a 400mm f/5.6 L and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy take a walk around the brush to where this bachelor stood wary. He was smart enough to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy stand in the shade!

I know last month’s desktop calendar featured mountains as well, but I’m jonesing for no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy another pilgrimage to Big Bend soon, and I just couldn’t help it! This particular shot was made of the same range as featured in this post, however, this no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy sunrise slithered across the lower hills on the south side of the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Chisos. My favorite feature of Big Bend National Park is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy the river road trail, and from the remote Talley campsite, you no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy can look back miles toward these mountains and only be no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy less than one from the Rio Grande. Quite and beautiful. A rough ride to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy get there, but worth it!

This small pasture is no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy right next to the house I grew up in on Meadows Ranch, and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy with the sun setting, it just simply lights up, glowing gold in stark contrast with the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy rich blues of the thick layer of clouds the sun happened to no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy sneak under for a minute or two. Although in the winter, the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy heads “turkey-foot” heads disappear, the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy bluestem variety grass that covers this particular hill is always a no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy pleasure to watch at the end of the day. During the no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy Spring and early Summer, if the rain is right, it’s as thick as carpet and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy waves in the wind as if it were an ocean of green and no prescription cialis canadian pharmacy earthy brown.
It’s the simpler things in life.
