I have been shooting quite a bit lately for a variety of stories, as well as preparing material for a new book that Badlands is getting geared up to produce. I’m heading to BDP headquarters tomorrow to take a breather from getting caught up and to finalize one book and start on another.
A word of suggestion: always take the opportunity to meet someone. I ran into a travel agent today as she was paddling down a creek, and we had a short conversation about our careers. I’m more and more interested in stories from people. Maybe they help me photograph them, maybe they inspire an idea or a photograph or story of my own, or something larger. The story of someone’s life, however interesting or not it may be, is a look in to that person’s walk through a more than often crazy world, and when they impart their story, you automatically get to share that crazy world with them.
Here’s a couple that jumped out to me the past couple of days…
Another word of advice, be patient when photographing butterflies!
